Everyone loves a deal! Saving big on New York hotels can prevent you from blowing the biggest part of your travel dollars on accommodations – if you know where to look for deals. New York hotels suffer from the economy like every other business. Travel is down, and everyone is watching their wallets a bit more closely. Tourism is a big deal to industry in New York City, and keeping business booming can be a challenge so when individuals and families are allotting less and less money to travel and opting to stay home instead. For those who want to visit New York, however, the economic downturn can mean great deals on fabulous rooms, including luxury suites in some of the city’s finest establishments.

There are vacation packages that are offered by almost all the big name hotels in New York City that typically include a couple of meals, a Broadway show and the cost of the stay. Finding them simply requires seeking out companies that market New York vacations and getaways, and almost all of the big hotels in New York have hooked up with a few third party vendors to push their hotel accommodations. Finding the best deal may simply involve getting online and typing the name of the hotel into your search engine.

The day that you stay can also be important when finding affordable hotel rooms in New York. While New York is hopping during the week with business guests, the weekends are a bit less crowded and will be filled with people like you who are coming into the city for the sights and attractions. For this reason, staying on the weekend is much less expensive than staying during the week – with rates going down as soon as Thursday night and then going back up on Sunday night. Book your New York hotel on Friday night or Saturday night for the most savings.

Although many trips to New York are spontaneous, if you know that you are going to be traveling to New York, you should go ahead and reserve your room. Book as far in advance as possible as this will lock in the booking at today’s rates and avoid any increase in rates. Advance bookings are also usually rewarded with a little discount.

Shop your stay. Call hotels and let them know what the other guy is offering and you will sometimes see how willing New York hotels are to compete for your business. It may seem a little like bartering on prices but some competitors are very competitive and will shave off some of the costs of your stay just to beat the other guy and get your business. Look for specials and other incentives that are offered by airlines, clubs and organizations to stay at hotels that they have agreements.

Taking a little extra time in booking a hotel can result in saving big on the hotel stay in New York.
